Allegro Java About

Print PDF

JAllegro is a Java port of the Allegro Game Programming Library created by Shawn Hargreaves.

JAllegro was written in 2003/2004 by Jason LaDere based on Allegro 4.0.0 code.

Most of the demos run. The sound library is not finished but does work. The 3d library is implemented but is not hooked up (I think it used to be), so the demos that use polygon rendering will not show polygons at this time. The Test (performance) application and the Grabber are implemented.

I am looking for anyone willing to help work on this project and get it updated. If you think this project is useful, please leave some comments. Also, the last time I compared performance against the c version of Allegro, I came up with faster primitive drawing (putpixel, drawline, etc) in the Java version but it was slower at higher level drawing such as blitting. I would like to see if this is still true or even if I made any mistakes in the way the test are coded. Any help in coding, testing, or promoting would be appreciated. Thanks.
